Let’s take a journey through the Mesozoic Era! I created a little informational zine told from the perspective of a coccolithophore, a type of phytoplankton I recently learned about in my Paleobiology class. For this zine I wanted to do something fun! So much of my usual work is deep and meaningful and ultimately sad because a lot of it has to do with the environment. I love dinosaurs, and I am currently loving this paleobiology class. I drew the coccolithophore on paper for my lab and decided I liked it enough to be my main character. I wanted it to be bright and chaotic and perhaps not make a lot of sense. My original plan was just to make a little field journal where I was the main character but after trying it out it looked too much like a boring textbook that even I myself would hate to read. So, I went all out with the maximalism and random plot points. I also added a little cover at the beginning & end when I probably should have had it on the second to last page. I believe the fun vibes I intended to convey were successful. There are a few areas where the font is a little too small but I don't think it takes away all that much. Next time, I would probably bind it differently, I did it in a little bit of a time crunch so I was simply doing my best. I really like this piece!
